It is being treated by very strong creams. The first spot started about a year ago. Over the last few months the ring has gotten bigger and smaller rings have appeared inside the bigger one. It has become itchy and dry. The doctor believes it’s eczema and is referring her to a dermatoligist. The office that takes her insurance is booked almost thourgh next year. I just dont see us waiting that long and continuing these strong creams(which arent helping). I feel she is having an allerigic reaction to something. Should we try an allergy specialist first or while we are waiting for the dermatoligist? Could this be a milk allergy?

where is the rash? finger, leg, etc? i’m not trying to be gross… i have an idea depending on where rash is located…
i was going to say she might be allergic to nickel, but it’s unlikely that she would have nickel touching her elbow… my daughter began to get rashes on her belly… turned out she was allergic to nickel, and the inside button of her jeans was creating a rash on her stomach…. good luck… sorry i couldn’t be more hlepful… are you sure that it’s not a tick bite or something like that?

Itchy and dry sounds like eczema or psoriasis. Your doctor will have ruled out infection etc. Is the strong cream working? Is it a steroid cream? How old is she? If she’s a baby then strong creams aren’t going to do her any good over a long period even if they do treat the rash OK. Have you tried putting a herbal cream on it to see what happens? Try Hope’s Relief cream. It won’t hurt her and it might just do the trick.

has the doctor ruled out rosacea (sp?). i don’t have much experience with rashes except diaper rash, chicken pox, and ring worms, sorry….but i wanted to offer the advice of try calling your insurance company and explaining the difficutly getting in with that dermotologist and see if they have recently added any others that you might be able to get in with sooner.
